I have to announce that due to circumstances beyond control Richard will be taking a break from the band but we are very pleased to welcome Dave Clarkson into the fold, Dave has of course played with Purple before, notably at the memorial concert for Brian back in 2006.

It is with some regret that we have to announce that Neil Turnbull has decided to leave Purple after five years. Neil wishes to explore a new venture & we wish him well for the future. Neil's replacement on the stool will be Al Stracey, an exceptional drummer with many years experience behind him including a stint in Dervish & Legend, two stalwarts of NWOBHM....More on this to come.

Roger Glover has recently recorded bass for ‘Lucy’s Song’. The song, written and produced by David Domminney of Rogue Studio’s London, is being released by iTunes download on 30th June 2008 to raise funds for The Linda McCartney Cancer Centre and to promote their Field of Women event which takes place at Liverpool Cricket Club on July 6th 2008. http://www.fieldofwomen.com/

LUCY is an acronym for Listen Up, Check Yourself and is designed to help raise awareness of breast cancer.

The eclectic list of ‘Lucy’s Song’ participants also includes Gillian Glover, Dean Howard, Steve Morris,  Ian Gillan’s favourite comedian R.Bruce, former West End Jesus of Nazareth Steve Balsamo, Neighbours Soap Star Alan Fletcher and many more including Liverpool’s very own China Crisis member Eddie Lundon, Eaton Road and Brookside’s Jo Birchall.

Roger’s painting ‘Compassion’ which was auctioned to raise funds for the Centre is available as a signed limited edition print.

February 2008

Well that’s it then, Xmas & New Year over & done with, which means we get to have our annual break, hurrah.
Usually we take a break just after new year & dust down the set list & show for the next haul, well as you know we made a slight adjustment & did a January show this year!! The horror!
Anyway that went well & we will return to the Beacon court (an excellent venue) later on this year but for the next few weeks we are locking ourselves away & working on a few surprises for the return to gigging around about the middle of April.
Also we should be popping in to Gold dust studios in the not too distant future to record a few songs & we will also be shooting a video with renowned film maker Johnnie Oddball in the summer so that should be interesting, for further info on him just scroll down or follow the click on the picture below to follow the link to his myspace site.

January 2008

Welcome to the newly designed website in  readiness  for 2008,  incidentally this will be our fifth year of performing these truly great songs  however this year will see some exciting changes.

Those keen eyed will have noticed the word ‘Inc’ tagged onto the name.

Although not an official name change it is significant in that we shall be incorporating something a little different.

We have decided to branch out somewhat in the material we will be performing!

Not as radical as you may at first think when you consider that the material will comprise the deep purple family tree & we all know just how extensive that thing is don’t we!

So what can you expect from Purple in 2008?

Well you will still get a truly great show with all the hits of the legendary Deep purple but now you will also be able to enjoy songs from Whitesnake, Gillan, Rainbow & maybe even a smattering of Dio!

Quality music from the ‘family’ I’m sure you will agree.

So will the set be completely different?

Well to a degree yes, but it will be split into two parts, set one will undoubtedly be Deep purple hits with part two comprising the best of the rest so to speak.

It is very much an experiment but one that we believe we can do justice to.

So keep on coming to the gigs & we will keep on giving you all we have got except now there's more to share!

All the best & big love to all.
